In the past two lessons I have screwed my lamp together, I have cut and soldered my wire onto the LED strip and have stuck it onto the aluminum. I am currently in the process putting the plastic over the wires. After that has been completed I will be on the final stage of making my lamp, which is attaching the cord which allows my lamp to light up. This has been a very fun term, and I have enjoyed making my LED lamp. :)

16/2/12
today was a bit of a short lesson as I only had about 20 minutes beacause of school photos. But in the lesson I was able to shape the aluminium and get it fitted for the block of wood. The shape turned out a little different to what I had designed but I asked my friends and they thought that the design/shape looked good. Lets hope I get more work done in the next lesson. Above is a picture of what my lamp will turn out near the end product!

Blog 15/2/12
I progressed further on my LED lamp today by cutting and sanding down my block of wood and piece of aluminium to the right shape and size. Today was quite a difficult lesson as I had to cut my block of wood, sand it down, and cut my price of aluminium with a saw all by myself. I was quite impressed with myself as people were having difficult with the saw but I got the hang of it pretty quickly. Hopefully in the next lesson I will finish shaping my aluminum and nearly be ready to put it all together.

Today we started shaping our lamps with the modeling wire. I had to adjust the size of my curve in my lamp as it was too big which meant there was nothing to wrap the aluminum around. The problem was solved by making the wire shorter which aloud me to make a smaller curve. I am looking forward to my next lesson and I can't wait to get into the workshop.

Today in Design Futures we drew some Isometric drawings, which means you can change your two dimensional thoughts into three dimension drawings. I found this lesson quite challenging as you had to think hard of where the lines on your drawings are to connect. Above is a picture of my Isometric drawings, hope you like them! :)

Blog for lesson 1/2/12
Today we started the ideation phase. It was quite a fun lesson as we started designing and drawing our ideas for our lamps. I had many ideas, drawing down eleven different shapes and sizes as shown in the picture. My favorite was lamp 4 as the design caught my eye comparing against all the others.I think my final product will turn out similar to this one although I think I will have to further evaluate the shape of the block of wood as I think it will not be stable enough. Thanks for a great lesson Mr Ward and I am looking forward to my next lesson :)
(unfortunately I do not know how to upload my photo but it will be uploaded at a later date) :(
